This body of work was born after losing a loved one and coming to Montana to heal. Grief and loss overtook me completely. I was starved for purpose, devoid of any direction in my practice - the only thing pulling me out of bed in the morning was the beauty of the outdoors.
It was in this landscape that I fell in love with the relationship between does and their fawns. Watching their nurturing love, guidance, and playful spirit, my heart began to heal and a new love was born.
Observing my ability to heal through the love and abundance of the natural world fueled me to dedicate my practice to eliciting the abundant beauty and infinite oneness that exists when we let go of the thought that we are separate from the exterior world.
I continue to experiment in the studio with the addition of lighting elements and fabrics, textures, and different materials to convey the feelings of what I am witnessing in nature. Ultimately I strive to create work that brings all of us - humans and wildlife - closer together.
